What is the Fare Car?
Fare Car provides a range of
journey opportunities from a large rural area to and from
designated points in Tiverton. Like a bus service, Fare Car has
fixed arrival and departure times and points. Unlike a bus,
Fare Car only runs for passengers who have arranged a
journey in advance. Fare Car is operated by Parkway Taxis, financially supported by Devon County Council.
What‘s so great about Fare Car?
• several journey choices each
way, six days of the week
(excluding public holidays)
• access to shops, work, leisure
facilities, doctors, chemists
and adult education
• a taxi-style service at special
fares
• helpful, friendly and fully
licensed drivers with modern
comfortable vehicles (wheelchairs
can be carried)
• opportunities to use other
public transport services
Who can use the service?
Anybody of any age may use the
service to travel within the designated area at the times it
runs. There is no longer a membership club. All you need to
do is to arrange your journey(s) in advance.
What has changed?
From Monday 5th March, 2007, the
F9 service is extended to serve the villages of Loxbeare,
Oakfordbridge and Stoodleigh.
Where can I go and what will I pay?
• starting from any point in the
designated rural area to and from designated
points in Tiverton
• starting from the designated
points in Tiverton to and from any point in the rural area
Fare Car will do its best to
reach any address but some points may not be accessible for the
vehicle; the cars are not obliged to leave the public highway.
£3.50 per single journey.
This is a subsidised
fare. There are no further reductions for pensioners
including Devon wide pass holders, children or other
categories, except children under 5 who travel free.
When does Fare Car run?
The service provides
several journey choices
Monday to
Saturday excluding Public Holidays.
You will be given an
approximate pick-up time. Please be
ready on time as this is a shared
service but with timetabled arrival and departure times and
other passengers may need to be picked up en route. Fare Car pick-up and drop-off
points in Tiverton will be -
Bus Station, New Hospital, East
Devon College, Exe Valley Leisure Centre, Morrisons and
Tesco

What do I do when I wish to travel?

Or you can telephone us to
book. When you wish to travel you will
need to confirm your journey in advance by phoning the co-ordinator on 01884
38899 any time between 0900 and 1600 Monday
- Saturday on the last working day before intended
travel at the latest.
Select the journey(s) you wish to
travel on from the timetable.

Tell the co-ordinator the day and
date you wish to travel, where you would like to be picked
up, and your destination. You will then be
given an approximate pick-uptime. Please give the
co-ordinator a contact telephone number.
Please mention any requirement
for carriage of wheelchairs, pushchairs or child
seats. Please also state the number of people wishing to
travel including all children and infants.
Journey requests may be made up
to one week in advance. Cancellations at least one
working day before intended travel will be accepted free of
charge. If you cancel the booking on the day of travel you
will still be expected to pay the fare.
